OPENING FOR DELIVERY ONLY - LEVEL 4
As of 1 May 2020, the lockdown restrictions will be partially lifted to Level 4, which means that Debonairs Pizza will be opening for delivery. We’re excited to be able to deliver our amazing pizza to our customers once again. Unfortunately not all of our restaurants will be in a position to open for delivery only. While we would love to have all our restaurants open and serving our delicious pizzas across the country, the truth is that delivery only trading conditions are not viable for all our restaurants. Only restaurants that are successful in obtaining additional financial support in the form of (amongst others)rent relief, will be in a positiontore-open without incurring further losses.

We want to assure our customers that your health and safety has always been a top priority at Debonairs Pizza. Every restaurant that will be open has taken extra precautions and measures to ensure food safety and the safety of our teams and customers. These additional strict hygiene measures ensure that our Standard Operating Procedures are in line with the Health Department’s COVID-19 risk mitigation measures. Under Level 4 COVID-19 regulations, we’ve implemented the following measures:
- Limited staff at all times, with no overlapping shifts or non-essential staff (to limit contact and encourage social distancing).
- All staff and drivers are screened for symptoms at the beginning of each shift and during operation(including temperature checking). Staff that record symptoms are isolated and immediately sent for follow up testing and,if necessary, further treatment and isolation.
- All staffon sitewill wear face masksat all times.
- Strict handwashing and sanitation routinesenforced.All back of house staff wash their hands every 20 minutesas well as after every time theyhave touched raw and cooked foods, packaging, surfaces,and goingto the wash room.
- Limited contact with delivery couriers, which includes not allowing delivery couriers into the restaurant without a face mask and a maximum of 2 couriers in the restaurant at a time.
- No Contact Delivery protocols will be applied for allDebonairs Pizza Delivery Service Drivers.

The Sunday Times Most Loved Brands Awards is the leading consumer survey of its kind in South Africa. 3 500 adult consumers from metro and non-metro areas are interviewed about their perceptions, awareness and familiarity with brands in different categories. If a brand makes the list and scores in the high rankings, it’s doing something amazing.

When a young, hopeful and eager Joyce started working at a fast food restaurant in 1997, she had no idea of the path she would blaze and the extraordinary success she would gain. Joyce begun her journey in the fast food industry with no formal education but that didn’t discourage her. She took it upon herself to learn from those around her and seized every opportunity to train and get qualifications. Her passion and willingness was rewarded with promotion after promotion, moving from a General Worker to a Cashier, then Assistant Store Manager and finally Store Manager! Her success story didn’t end there, in 2015 Joyce was promoted to Franchise Manager for Debonairs Pizza! With the wisdom of her journey, she has these inspirational words to share: “I encourage everyone who might think it’s tough to get to the top to look ahead and use what they have to build a future.”

A SPECTACULAR FINISH TO THE WOMEN’S FOOTBALL SEASON
The final match of the season was between TUT and UJ. Both sides worked hard to get to this stage of the tournament. Football fans came in their numbers to support their teams. It was an action-packed finale and TUT trampled UJ with an amazing score of 4-0. TUT are the defending champions and have taken the cup three years in a row.
We would like to wish all the players and staff members well as they continue with their training. Train hard and keep the goalpost in sight.
AN AMAZING VARSITY SPORTS SEASON
After 8 rounds of matches, the final two teams, UP- TUKS & TUT, clashed in a titanic game dubbed the “Thriller in Tshwane”. It was a grueling spectacle that left the fans screaming for more and the teams exhausted. Both sides played their hearts out and gave it their all, but there could only be one victor. Congratulations to UP – Tuks! UP – Tuks played their best game from the beginning and continued to show amazing teamwork throughout the tournament.
Every team, plus the coaches and support staff, should be proud of their achievements and dedication to the beautiful game. AMAZING CHEESE FROM THE EASTERN CAPE
The Famous Brands Cheese Company is a partnership between Famous Brands and Coega Dairy. The shareholders of Coega Dairy are 13 dairy farmers (61%) and the Empowerment Trust (39%). The beneficiaries of the trust are six community owned dairy farms (which provide more than 20% of the milk to the Famous Brands Cheese Company), the factory employees and the farm workers. This directly benefits the surrounding communities who are empowered and uplifted through the trust. Not only is the Famous Brands Cheese Company economically valuable to the people of Coega, it is also ecologically sustainable. The factory has all the latest green technology to ensure that there is minimal impact on the environment and that the quality of production is eco-friendly.
Over 500 000kg of cheese are produced monthly at the cheese plant! That’s a massive amount and this number will continue to rise as the factory expands. Debonairs Pizza is proud to be the company’s single biggest customer and we will continue to support the plant as it grows. Founded in 1991, this brand has grown from a single outlet in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu Natal to a network of restaurants extending across Africa as far as the United Arab Emirates. Now, its 600th restaurant will officially be opened on Saturday, 26 November 2016, in Botshabelo near Bloemfontein, Free State. “When we noticed the commercial development in Botshabelo, we immediately reached out to Famous Brands to open what would have been our first Debonairs Pizza franchise, but we couldn’t wait that long. AN AMAZING TIME AT BUSHBUCKRIDGE
The Debonairs Pizza Bushbuckridge team did just this when they visited the Palms Model School orphanage in Bushbuckridge Maviljan to perform an act of kindness. This selfless act was all about bringing joy to the kids. The team brought balloons & Doughnated flat pizza breads, while having lots of fun interacting with the children on the day.
The school consists of more than 40 kids from infants to 18 years of age. There are 5 volunteer teachers from around the community that have dedicated their time and knowledge to the orphanage.
It’s deeply entrenched in Debonairs Pizza’s ethos to go out of our way to help others, and we look forward to spreading our amazing with other projects that will make a difference to the lives of those who are less fortunate.
DEBONAIRS PIZZA OPENS 500TH STORE
Over the years, Debonairs Pizza has been at the forefront of pizza innovation within the South African pizza market. Founded in 1991, the Brand has grown from one single restaurant in Pietermaritzburg in KwaZulu Natal to a network of restaurants extending across South Africa, the rest of Africa and as far afield as India and the United Arab Emirates.
Mohamed Moosa, franchisee of the 500th restaurant, opened his first Debonairs Pizza restaurant in the Carlton Centre in 2004. This happened to be the Brand’s 199th restaurant at the time. Over the years he has become a successful multiple-store operator. Moosa comments, “I am delighted to be opening the Brand’s milestone 500th restaurant, after narrowly missing out on the 200th store milestone. I am very proud to be associated with Debonairs Pizza which has been the market leader for many years, primarily based on our absolute focus on product quality.”
