DELIVERING SMILES TO THE CHILDRENS SHELTER WITH DEBONAIRS PIZZA EMOYENI MALL

When the team from Debonairs Pizza Emoyeni Mall heard about a local childrens shelter that was in need, they decided together that they needed to deliver a special Doughnation.

The shelter is based at Zwelishane Pienaar and provides care for less fortunate and homeless children. The team sent their delivery drivers over with fresh pizza flat breads to fill up their tummies and bring smiles to their faces.

Debonairs Pizza would like to thank our customers for making this possible. When you buy our hot, fresh pizzas, you’re also helping out local communities and childrens shelters like this one.

A DOUGHNATION FOR THE CHILDREN AND CARETAKERS FROM DEBONAIRS PIZZA NELSPRUIT CROSSING

The Woodhouse Community Crèche is a centre in Mataffin that provides daily meals and a caring environment for a number of children in the local community. It started back in 2011, when Amon and Jeanette Ngwamba decided to use their pension money in order to take care of children in need.

With only an open fire and 2 gas burners, they feed approximately 200 school children and 80 toddlers each day. That’s a lot of mouths to feed! So, the team from Debonairs Pizza Nelspruit Crossing Doughnated pizza flat breads to help them with their efforts.

The Doughnation arrived just in time for lunch, and the children and caretakers got to enjoy something extra that day. Thank you to the Debonairs Pizza Nelspruit Crossing team for flying the Doughnation flag proudly!

DEBONAIRS PIZZA KABOKWENI PLAZA ARE LOCAL HEROES

Debonairs Pizza Elukwatini did things a little differently on Valentine’s Day. Instead of just celebrating with their loved ones, they decided to share the love with the residents at Chief JM Dlamini Cheshire Home. The home houses and cares for 50 people living with disabilities.

Before lockdown, the team used to visit the home regularly, but due to COVID-19 restrictions they couldn’t. So, they felt that the month of love was the perfect time to rekindle their connection. The team lovingly prepared two heart-shaped Triple-Decker pizzas, and pizza flat bread, to surprise the residents. Everyone was very surprised and excited to see the team after such a long time.

After such a lengthy absence it felt good for the Debonairs Pizza Elukwatini team to visit the residents at the home and give back to their community. Thanks to the support of the local community, this and more Doughnations are made possible.

SUPPORTING YOUNG SOCCER STARS THROUGH DOUGHNATION

The team from Debonairs Pizza Kabokweni Plaza and the Zwel Kids Club have a very special friendship. The club provides much needed love and care for vulnerable children, and Debonairs Pizza Kabokweni Plaza regularly supplies the pizza flatbreads that keep their tummies full.

This time around, the team got involved with the football club. The club is taking part in a mini “Premier League” that runs form 28 November 2020 until 11 September 2021. The little soccer stars from the Zwel Kids Club can now step onto the field with pride in their brand new Debonairs Pizza-branded kit! On top of that, they also brought along some Real Deal pizzas to fill up tummies.

This soccer league is an exciting venture and will do good work in keeping children active and off the streets. Well done to the Debonairs Pizza Kabokweni Plaza team!

Lastly, we also want to the thank the local community in Kabokweni for continuing to choose Debonairs Pizza every time they’re hungry for something amazing. Your contributions make Doughnation possible!

MAKING THE FIRST DAY AMAZING AT MAPHAKAMA PRIMARY SCHOOL

The first day of school is scary enough, never mind that thousands of children across the country are still coming to terms with the “new normal” way of doing things. The team from Debonairs Pizza Emoyeni Mall made a Doughnation to all new the Grade R learners at Maphakama Primary School, just to make their first day of school amazing!

They first heard about the school from the principal, who just so happens to be a loyal customer at Debonairs Pizza Emoyeni Mall. The principal told them about the 110 kids starting Grade R in 2021 and they took their chance to give back to the community and put smiles on faces.

Doughnations like this are only possible because of your support, so thank you to the local community around Emoyeni Mall! Congratulations to the team, who all wore masks and sanitised regularly when they visited the school.

BACK TO SUPPORT THE THOBELA SISTERS

A few months back, the Debonairs Pizza Kabokweni Plaza team met the resilient and determined sisters of the Thobela family. The family consists of six young women who rely on each other for support. The sisters made a long-lasting impression on the Debonairs Pizza team who vowed to help them in any way they could.

In October, the team went back to visit the sisters in Nkohlakalo, and they didn’t go empty handed. They brought sanitary, cosmetic and personal hygiene products for the sisters to use. No Doughnation is complete without something to eat, so the team also brought freshly-baked flatbread with a tasty filling for the family to enjoy.

The sisters were very grateful for the Doughnation and excitedly shouted, ‘Siyabonga!’ to the team as they left. We would like to extend their shout outs of thanks to you, the Debonairs Pizza fam. Thanks to your support, this and other amazing Doughnation stories are possible.

The team at Debonairs Pizza Emoyeni Mall has grown fond of the children at the Buhle Besive Drop In Centre. Twice a week, for the past 3 years, the team has baked fresh flatbread and prepared amazing goodies for the children to enjoy.

The team has built an amazing friendship with the staff and children at the centre. Every time the team pays the centre a visit, the children’s faces light up, and they are always so excited to see them. After visiting the centre, the team’s hearts are filled with joy.

This past Doughnation was no different. When the children saw the Debonairs Pizza Emoyeni Mall team arrive, their cute little faces lit up with joy! This time around, the team didn’t just bring flatbread, candy and juice; they also brought ice cream!

CARING FOR OUR COMMUNITY

A team member at Debonairs Pizza Kanyamazane told the rest of the team about a family in the community who needed some help. The Methule family is headed by a young lady who works at a local tavern to support her 3 younger siblings. Both parents had sadly passed on, so she has taken on the responsibility of taking care of the family, and ensuring that they have enough to eat and a roof over their heads.

The team was moved by the family’s plight and decided to help. They paid the family a visit and brought them a food parcel. Debonairs Pizza Kanyamazane has vowed to continue helping the family and that this is just the first of many Doughnations.

MAKING A DIFFERENCE ONE FAMILY AT A TIME

Doughnation is all about giving back to the community and families in need. Recently, the team at Debonairs Pizza Nkomazi met a family that needed a bit of help during this difficult time.

Gogo Sithole is a pensioner who lives with her 2 grandchildren. The family gets by every month with the help of a grant and additional funds that they receive from collecting empty tins and boxes for recycling in Malelane.

On one of their trips to the recycling plant, our delivery man asked the family about their situation. He was moved by their plight so he shared the story with the rest of the Debonairs Pizza Nkomazi team. The team put together a food parcel for the family to show their support.

Thank you to the community of Nkomazi, you made this Doughnation possible. Every time you order from Debonairs Pizza, you help to support your community and families in need.

DEBONAIRS PIZZA EMOYENI MALL & BUHLE BESIVE’S SPECIAL FRIENDSHIP

The team from Debonairs Pizza Emoyeni Mall has a very special Doughnation relationship with Buhle Besive Drop In Centre. For 3 years now, they have made bi-weekly visits to the centre to drop off Pizza flatbreads. On some occasions, they have another special surprise for them, read more about that here

Buhle Besive Drop In Centre is an organisation that is passionate about taking care of less fortunate children in their community of Zwelisha. Many of the children who rely on the after-school centre are orphans who have been placed with relatives or community members who often don’t have all the means to properly care for an extra child.

That’s why, every Monday and Friday when the team from Debonairs Pizza Emoyeni Mall arrives, everyone at the centre is overjoyed. The Pizza flatbreads that the team provides go a long way in ensuring that vulnerable community members are well-fed.

But it’s not only the team from Debonairs Pizza Emoyeni Mall who makes this possible; it’s you too! Every time you visit Debonairs Pizza and order your faves, you enable us to do amazing things.

Debonairs Pizza Kabokweni Plaza is always Doughnation strong! As you’ve probably read before, they are a reliable source of regular support for Zwel Kids Club, but that’s not the only way they share the Doughnation spirit with their local community. On 21 September, they made a special visit to the Thobelas family in Nkohlakalo.

The Thobelas family is made up of 6 young women. The eldest is only 27 years old, but she’s taken up the responsibility of being a parent to her sisters. Of all the sisters, only one of the sisters has been able to find work and they have to rely on government grants to make ends meet.

The Kabokweni Plaza team surprised the 6 sisters with a generous Doughnation of 12.5kg maize meal, 5l cooking oil, 2kg sugar, tea bags, tinned fish, soups, washing powder and even some cosmetics so that they could feel pampered.

Thanks to the Kabokweni and Nkohlakalo communities for your support. Every time you order Debonairs Pizza, you’re contributing to Doughnations like this one.

DEBONAIRS PIZZA ELUKWATINI LENDS A HAND TO THE SYABONGA DROP IN CENTRE

Debonairs Pizza Elukwatini continues to lend a helping hand to the community during this difficult time. In line with Mandela Day, to join in on the spirit of giving during the month of July, the team paid a visit to the children at the Syabonga Drop In Centre. The centre is a place of safety for needy and vulnerable children. Over the past few months, they’ve experienced an influx of children needing care and support. The Debonairs Pizza team hoped to help by providing the centre with sanitiser and toiletries. It wouldn’t be a Doughnation without something amazing to eat, so the team also provided 50 BBQ Bacon and Creamy Chicken Real Deal pizzas as well as snacks for the children. The Debonairs Pizza Elukwatini was happy to help the Syabonga Drop In Centre and see the children once again. THE ELDERLY IN ELSPARK GET TREATED BY DEBONAIRS PIZZA

Debonairs Pizza Elspark did two Doughnation drives to help feed the elderly in their community.

Their first stop was the Graceland Old Age Home. Here they planned to provide food, vegetable and fruit baskets to 50 pensioners. As they readied themselves to do their delivery, a message came through that another 14 pensioners needed their help. So the team quickly packed a couple more baskets so everyone could share in the Doughnation joy.

Their next stop was the Kowa Pienaar Old Age Home where they wanted to treat the staff and residents to 82 Pizzas and cold drinks. At the last minute they found out that one of the residents had a birthday coming up and it wasn’t a small one either. This Gogo was turning 100! Without thinking twice the team bought a present, some flowers and even topped a rainbow celebration cake with 100 candles. This made the day truly special for an amazing Gogo.

Clearly nothing phases the Debonairs Pizza Elspark team. You guys are taking amazing to a whole new level!

A MASSIVE DOUGHNATION FOR NELSPRUIT

Team work makes the dream work, and nobody understands that better than us! That’s why we were overwhelmed to hear that five Debonairs Pizza restaurants had teamed up to make a massive Doughnation in and around Nelspruit.

The teams from Debonairs Pizza Nelspruit Crossing, Nelspruit Plaza, Riverside Mall, Westend and White River got together to do something amazing for the Grade One learners at six local schools. They wanted to say congratulations for making it to ‘big school’ and gave each learner a Debonairs Pizza box with a voucher inside so that they can enjoy their fave pizza!

It was a big project to coordinate all the teams and make sure they got to all the schools they needed to, but all the effort was worth it when they saw the huge smiles and heard the gasps of excitement from the kids.

Well done to everybody involved in this massive Doughnation!

Whether they’re helping out at the Zwel Kids Club or recognising their local police service, their generous spirit is genuinely inspiring. This time they visited the Bethesda organisation in their local community of Kabokweni. Every Monday to Friday the organisation provides cooked meals and a safe place for kids to play after school. So the team decided to lend a helping hand. They arrived at the centre with burgers made from Doughnation flatbread, juice and a whole lot of clothing for the kids. Everybody was so thankful for the kind gesture. Special thanks go out to the community of Kabokweni. Thanks to you and your support for Debonairs Pizza Kabokweni Plaza, we get to carry on making a difference with Doughnation.

DEBONAIRS NKOMAZI IS HELPING KIDS IN NEED

Tragedy struck the Debonairs Pizza Nkomazi team last year. One of their drivers was involved in a car accident and sadly passed away. He was survived by his 2 kids, who are both of school-going age. In order to help them, the team raised funds to buy full uniforms for the kids. They attend different schools so it wasn’t an easy task. They succeeded though and managed to purchase 2 pullovers, 2 pairs of shoes and socks, 4 pairs of trousers, and 6 shirts. When they took the uniforms to the kids, they also brought along a large pizza. Well done to the Nkomazi team for honouring the memory of your team member and helping these kids in need. The team couldn’t pass up the opportunity to show them some love. They Doughnated 10 pallets of bricks (purchased from a local supplier), 20 bags of cement, window frames and door frames. FEEDING LITTLE TUMMIES FOR A BRIGHTER TOMORROW

The children of KwaZulu-Natal have a friend and champion in Rehana Valiallah. Rehana is a part of the Oceans Trust, a group made up of several Debonairs Pizza restaurants based in KwaZulu-Natal. This group has taken it upon themselves to help, support and care for the children in the area in whatever way they can through Doughnation.

The team regularly visits primary schools to donate pizza flatbread, host fun days and show the children that they matter. Another way in which the group supports children is through their partnership with the Robin Hood Foundation. They host an annual fun day for underprivileged children. Unfortunately, recent circumstances have resulted in the cancellation of such events, but hopefully, the team will be able to host a fun day soon and get to enjoy a day of laughter and excitement with them.

The dedication of Rehana and the Ocean Trust is amazing! We look forward to hearing more great stories about their Doughnations. Thanks to your support, Debonairs Pizza fam, we are able to give back to communities in both KwaZulu-Natal and Mzansi.
